Japanese Matcha Latte

Ingredients:

Matcha, Sencha green tea, espresso, milk, honey, water, whipped cream (optional)

  • 1 tbsp matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp hot water
  • 1 1/2 oz Japanese Sencha Green Tea coffee (or your preferred espresso)
  • 1 cup milk (any type, such as dairy, almond, or oat)
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey (adjust to taste)
  • Optional: Whipped cream or foam for topping

 

 

Preparation Time:

7 Minutes

Step 1: Prepare Matcha Paste 

In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of matcha powder with 2 tablespoons of hot water. Use a whisk or spoon to mix until the matcha forms a smooth paste with no lumps.

Step 2: Brew Coffee

Brew 1 shot of Japanese Sencha Green Tea coffee (or your preferred Uprise espresso) using an espresso machine or Moka pot.

Step 3: Heat Milk

In a saucepan or microwave, heat 1 cup of milk until it’s hot but not boiling. If using a microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval.

Step 4: Mix Matcha Paste, Coffee, and Milk

Pour the hot milk into the bowl with the matcha paste. Use a whisk or spoon to mix until the matcha paste is fully incorporated into the milk. Then add the brewed coffee and stir until well combined.

Step 5: Sweeten with Honey

Add 1-2 teaspoons of honey to the matcha coffee latte, adjusting the amount to your desired level of sweetness. Stir well until the honey is dissolved.

Step 6: Froth (Optional)

If desired, use a milk frother to froth the matcha coffee latte until a layer of foam forms on top. Alternatively, you can skip this step if you prefer a smoother texture.

Step 7: Serve

Pour the Japanese Matcha Latte into a serving mug or cup. If frothed, spoon any remaining foam on top of the latte.

Step 8: Optional Topping

For an extra touch, add a dollop of whipped cream or foam on top of the latte for added creaminess and presentation.

Step 9: Enjoy
